We are currently searching for an experienced and innovative Climate Business Developer to lead and drive the development of our bioethanol clean cooking project, in addition to other climate initiatives across Africa.
The ideal candidate will lead our efforts for market penetration, sales and marketing, partnership establishment, and overall business management processes for bioethanol clean cooking.
Meticulous planning and execution, as well as a customer-centric approach focused on driving the product from early adopters’ stage to market mainstream will be paramount in achieving the project success
Tasks
Without being exhaustive, the typical responsibilities associated with this position include:

  • Develop and implement innovative market penetration strategies for the Bioethanol Clean Cooking Business, staying ahead of industry trends and consumer preferences.
  • Lead the creation and execution of comprehensive sales and marketing strategies to promote the adoption of clean cooking solutions, targeting diverse customer segments.
  • Form strategic partnerships with suppliers, distributors, and collaborators to enhance the reach and impact of our clean cooking products.
  • Establish and optimize product distribution channels, ensuring accessibility and affordability for a wide range of consumers.
  • Implement effective customer management systems, focusing on building long-term relationships and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Design and deploy robust revenue collection systems, optimizing financial processes for sustainability and growth.
  • Oversee the overall business management process, ensuring seamless operations, resource allocation, and continuous improvement.
  • Utilize design thinking processes to empathize with customers, identify pain points, and develop innovative and practical solutions that align with their needs.
  • Adapt and remain flexible in different contexts, considering cultural sensitivities in business strategies and tailoring approaches accordingly.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and customer support, to align business goals with organizational objectives and ensure a cohesive and integrated approach.
  • Plan and execute pilot projects to test the effectiveness and feasibility of the bioethanol clean cooking solutions and business approach. Establish mechanisms for collecting feedback from pilot projects, enabling continuous improvement and optimization of project elements.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management, updating on project progress, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Integrate sustainability principles into all aspects of the project, aligning with the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

Requirements

  • Background in finance, business development, sales and marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience or strong interest in startup environments and the ability to navigate challenges associated with startups.
  • Customer-centric approach with the ability to identify and address customer pain points, fostering a positive customer experience.
  • Proficiency in the design thinking process to develop innovative and customer-focused solutions.
  • Culture-sensitive mindset with an understanding of the impact of culture on business strategies and a commitment to fostering inclusive and sustainable practices.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous innovation within projects, identifying opportunities for improvement and adaptation to market dynamics.
  • Genuine passion for climate-related initiatives, with a deep commitment to making a positive impact on environmental sustainability.
  • Ability to travel often and work across different time zones
